Christmas Joy and New Year Wishes

Man, I just can't seem to find the time to sit down and do this more often. I hope everyone had the holly jolly-est Christmas. Hudson wanted a bunk bed and a baby sister. Poor kid got neither, but wasn't disappointed:) I am completely exhausted/burnt out from Christmas orders, but my sewing room has just been begging me to come in and sit a spell. Finally did Brady a Mickey shirt I had been meaning to do for weeks. Turned out really cute. Just downloaded a super cute new monogram design from apexembdesigns.com (see pic below) and set on a fleece baby blanket (bought at Target). New for 2011: Custom minky dot baby blankets, burp cloths, boo boo bags OH MY! Really excited about the boo boo bags. They are filled with rice and you just put them in the freezer until needed. Blankets are 36" square. Made 2 for Brady and Hudson yesterday. They love rubbing the soft dots. I would have done the reverse blanket side in a soft, fuzzy fabric, but I was out and the 6 inches of snow kept me from running to Knoxville. Thanks to everyone who placed Christmas orders. Send me pics of your cute doodlebugs in Doodlebug Stitches. Much love.

Christmas shirts Update

Finally sitting down to blog and update the page. Between the last few weeks of working extra shifts to cranking out 3 to 4 shirts a night, I am just tired with no end in sight :) I love doing this, but it takes a back seat to spending time with my bebes. I am attempting to have all Christmas shirts that have been ordered in the mail by Monday or Tuesday next week. There are a few more shirts I want to try for Christmas. This adorable ribbon tree (matching boy/girl set) tops the list...maybe this weekend. All shirts can be personalized, no extra charge. Unless noted otherwise, all shirts are $15 plus $3 shipping. Not much else to chat about. Gotta get busy.

Christmas Shirts Sneak Peak

As Hobby Lobby was rolling out its Christmas stuff in August (no lie), I rolled my eyes and told Hudson that mommy just couldn't handle Christmas "stuff" yet. Well, it's late October. A turkey is about it for a November design. So that leaves Christmas. I've got some cute ideas and embroidery designs that I'm excited to start. Really cute things coming for BOYS! I'm not naive enough to think that somebody hasn't come up with a naughty/nice design set. However, I have not seen it and thought it would be a cute idea. I need a word other than cute, but its late, I've worked the late shift tonight, so cute is staying. Anywho, I'm having the boys pics with Santa done in these. Most 2 sibling families I can think of, the nice shirt goes to the first born, and naughty to the second. Love my B, but he gets the naughty shirt ;) He's really not naughty, just expresses his opinion and gets into more than my easy going, cautious first child. Many more designs to come in the next few weeks. I've got over a dozen turkey shirts to finish for your little turkeys. As always, short sleeve shirts are $15 single, $12 multiple, and long sleeves are $18 single and $15 multiple.

Turkey Time!

Ahhhh. It's fall. Falling leaves, hayrides, pumpkins, and TURKEYS!! I found the pattern for this cute turkey face in a kids craft set and couldn't resist putting it on a shirt. I wasn't crazy about the feather pattern so after hours of tinkering, I got what I wanted. Ben calls my sewing room my crazy room. Maybe its because I stay up until the wee hours of the morn slinging fabric every which way (think Edward Scissorhands meets Martha Stewart....) Or because I tend to be a perfectionist and have to get things exactly how I'm picturing it. Anyway, I haven't seen any turkey shirts with a "butt" so I wanted these to be front/back design. I wasn't sure what the back of a turkey looks like, so I Googled "turkey butt". Mistake. No usable ideas, but got edumacated via the urban dictionary:
1. Turkey Butt: The condition of having one's clothing stuck between the buttocks. When ones ass gobbels up their pants. Turkey Butt 2. Long bangs (to the cheek, chin or sometimes longer) swept to one side or parted down the sides of the face. Remaining hair on the top and back of the head is of short length (two to six inches) and is freaked or fanned out. The hair on the back of the head may be tapered or have an under cut. The final results resembles something like a decapitated turkey sitting upon the head of the wearer as the back of the head looks like a turkeys' butt (the array of feathers) and the bangs look like wings and/or the turkeys breast.
Absolutely priceless. I'm working on the same pattern, but with different fabric. I'll try to have to posted in a few days. I usually only work when the boys are sleeping, so off to my crazy room I go.

Big, Bigger, Biggest!

Hellooooo! The only thing "big" about the owner of this shirt will be his cuteness!! These are for my dear friend Brianna who is expecting her 3rd boy at the end of this month. Boys have a super soft spot in my heart. I can't wait to see them wearing these! Isaac, Luke, and baby Elijah enjoy!

Fixed header

Thanks to Aly, I think the header now has words...lets post and see...

Party pooper

I'm not a part pooper, but as an adult, I have never enjoyed nor liked dressing up for Halloween. Ever. I don't know the reason...I don't dislike the holiday. No scarring childhood Halloween memories. I'm not one to take myself too seriously, so its not that I feel silly dressed up...I just don't know. This is the first year Hudson has told me what he was going to be for Halloween. Tear, he's getting so big! (Fireman in case you were wondering). I was going to dress Brady up as a dalmation dog to go along with the fireman theme, but Ben said he didn't want Brady living in Hudson's shadow his whole life and that he needed his own identity. Wow, it's only a costume. Didn't know he felt so strongly about it! Brady will be a dragon. Ben has approved. I love dressing the kids up and letting them eat insane amounts of candy for that one night (courtesy of the annual Sexton Halloween party).  Sooo in keeping with the festivities, but avoiding the costume, I will simply be mummy :) Love to all.

New Doodlebug Stitches Blog!

Hi! Thought this would be an easier way to display my Doodlebug Stitches shirts. I'm excited!! I absolutely love creating shirts at affordable prices. This past summer I stumbled upon applique. I began making shirts for my boys, their friends, church friends and soooooo here we are. My work is machine stitched (embroidery and monogramming coming soon!) and hand finished. I think my favorite shirts are the monsters, although I love adding bows and ribbons. Shirts may be ordered in all sizes (onsies, toddler sizes, youth and adult). You may also provide the shirt. A little about me... I adore my 2 boys. Hudson is 3 and Brady will be 2 in 2 weeks. My husband is truly amazing (gag, I know, but he really is). I'm a part-time pharmacist in town. We live on a farm about an hour north of Knoxville. Grew up a city girl, but am loving the country life. I love the Lord. My passion is seeking the full face of God and living in His promises. The verse that just resonates in my heart right now is Romans 11:36. "For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen." Now to try and upload pics..I'm not very tech savy...
